1. We Don't Sell
~^~^~^~^by David Stewart

WE DON’T SELL ANYTHING

The way we build our Young Living business is the same way Jesus and his disciples built the early Christian Church. They didn’t go out to “sell” the Gospel. They just went out and made it known. People could then “take it, or leave it.” When people were not receptive, Jesus and his disciples simply moved on to where people were ready for his teachings. In Mark 6:11 Jesus advises his disciples, “If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet . . .” In other words, don’t be attached to whether people want to try and learn about the many benefits of essential oils or not. If not, leave them alone and go where people are interested and willing to try them. Don’t continue to try to persuade them or “sell” them. Don’t waste your time. There are many out there who will be excited and grateful for you to introduce them to the oils. Find those people.

That is what Jesus and his disciples did. Jesus was a good publicist. He made himself and his message of salvation known, but he never tried to sell what he had to offer. He and his disciples left it up to the individual to receive or reject their good offer. When he did not find many receptive people in his home town, he did not stay there to persuade them. Instead, he left town and went to the neighboring villages where people did receive him.(Mark 6:5-6)

The word, “Gospel,” simply means “Good News.” Knowing yourself what benefits can be obtained by learning how to use essential oils and incorporating them into your life, isn’t that “Good News.” Shouldn’t that Good News be publicized and shared, not for your benefit, but for the benefit of everyone you know and meet.

Not everyone will be interested and ready to incorporate essential oils into their lives. You are actually suggesting a “change in life style” by mentioning essential oils and what they can do for one. A person may not be interested now, but if you are nice, friendly, respectful, and don‘t try to sell them, they may come to you at some future time when they are ready and ask you about the oils. Then, again, maybe they never will. That is okay. Focus on doing the right things, not on the responses you may get.

Not everyone who heard Jesus, or who encountered his disciples, was persuaded to accept the “Good News.” Jesus blessed them, let them be, and moved on. By maintaining an attitude of willingness to share these wonderful oils, but devoid of any attachment or expectation that people will understand and appreciate them, you will have no fear or anxiety in approaching people and they won’t be offended or feel pressured by your approach.

Some people say they don’t want to become a Young Living distributor commenting, “I can’t sell” or "I don't want to sell." You can assure them by words, but mostly by your example, that there is no selling necessary. You never try to persuade anyone, because it is everyone’s right to make their own choices, and you respect that. But because Young Living essential oils have brought you so many blessings to you and your family and you have seen them work wonders for so many, you would be remiss if you didn’t mention them and offer the opportunity for individuals to know of their availability and decide for themselves.

It was the same in spreading the Christian Gospel in the first decades after Jesus lived. The disciples would be remiss if they did not publicize the good news and let people know that salvation was available, but beyond spreading the word, they had no further duty to pursue or attempt to sell what they had. In spreading the Gospel, all the disciples had to do was share what the teachings of Jesus had done for them, personally.

You can publicize the oils the same way. Give your personal testimonies and share the benefits you know about from others. Take that attitude with the oils and you won’t have any fears about approaching people because if they are not interested, you will respect that. And if they are, then you can do them a favor and offer to be their sponsor and coach to help them experience the blessings and benefits you know are possible from the oils.

2. Antibiotics are Not Antiviral. Essential Oils Are
~^~^~^~^by Gloria Miller

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) made the headlines in today's Kansas City "Star." This illness, which can be very serious for babies and children, is said to be on the rise. Medical doctors treat it with antibiotics (Don't ask me why, because antibiotics don't do diddly-squat to get rid of a virus!) They also treat it with oxygen, which makes sense, because the little ones have a very hard time breathing once the inflammation gets going.

Those of you who have been in Young Living for even a short while know that we have many oils that are proven to be ANTI-VIRAL. But medical doctors don't "hold" with that kind of wisdom. They are disturbed because there is no inoculation against RSV at this time.

Even if there was, viruses by their very nature are extremely elusive. This is because viruses mutate so quickly. Something created by man in a laboratory might have dispelled a particular virus last week or last year, but may not have any effect on it today.

NEVERTHELESS.....God has already solved that problem! HOW? With plants that contain essential oils with naturally-occurring chemical constituents that are inherently anti-viral. Also, because the amount of precipitation, the temperature range, the soil, wind, and other environmental factors vary from year to year, each harvest of those plants differs. The difference is in the levels of those natural chemical constituents. In other words viruses cannot "out-mutate" a pure, therapeutic-grade essential oil with anti-viral capacity!

We can take advantage of that heavenly gift by diffusing essential oils in our homes, workplaces, churches, schools, etc. It's intelligent "health insurance" to do this! Plus, it's perfectly safe, smells great, and you can't inhale too much of them.

Young Living offers quite a variety of oils and proprietary Oil Blends that are anti-viral: Melissa (has shown the strongest anti-viral activity); Abundance; bergamot; Christmas Spirit; all the citrus oils (which are among the least expensive); clary sage; Egyptian Gold; Eucalyptus blue; Eucalyptus globulus; Eucalyptus polybractea (also a mucolytic); Eucalyptus radiata; Exodus II; frankincense; galbanum; helichrysum; hyssop; Idaho tansy; ImmuPower; juniper; Melaleuca alternifolia; Melaleuca quinquinervia; myrrh; palmarosa; palo santo; peppermint; pine; Raven; ravintsara; R.C. (Respiratory Care); Thieves; and Three Wise Men -- all great to diffuse! (Note: oregano, thyme, and clove are also highly anti-viral, but are better used applied to the body after being diluted with V-6 massage oil or extra virgin olive oil.)

Young Living has an array of diffusers from which to choose. If you have small children, the best one to get is the TheraPro model, Code number 4495. It has no fragile glass chimney, you can set its timers to turn on and off, and adjust the outflow. It has a very stable base, and enough weight to keep it from being knocked over. Consider it as an investment in your family's health -- something that will last for years.

I have had some of the "original" diffusers, Code number 3660, (with the glass chimney) for over 10 years, and they are still operating. These are quality products.

(Never heat essential oils. Heating oils causes them to "polymerize" and build long chains, preventing the molecules from floating out into the air, which is why ultrasonic or nebulizing diffusers are recommended.)

Remember: as with so many other products, you get what you pay for. Other brands will likely have been cut, adulterated, or distilled at high temperatures, destroying the healing power. They will NOT be 100% pure, therapeutic grade! They will still smell good, and you are probably going to enjoy that, but the virus won't be affected.

As the Winter season continues (for us folks in the Nothern Hemisphere), other preventive measures you can take are to avoid all refined foods and carbonated beverages, plus go very light on meat and dairy. (I know -- this isn't easy, especially if you have kids, but it's crucial to keeping everyone well.) Drink plenty of pure water -- the juice of half a fresh lemon in a tall glass of water every morning is a good idea, for several reasons. Get plenty of rest, and -- for goodness sake -- bundle up if it's cold and/or windy! Even if you are only stepping out for a minute, it's especially important to keep your head and neck protected from the wind (Traditional Chinese Medicine recommends this!)

And run your diffusers ALL the time, with your choice of oils or blends! Your surroundings will smell wonderful, and you'll be boosting your immune system while you destroy airborne microbes!

3. Lavender Oil Seems to Know What You Need and Provides It

(The following article is reprinted with permission from AIRASE Essential Oil Hot News, Sept 12, 2012, issue. For information on joining AIRASE and receiving their news articles, see end of this issue of the Raindrop Messenger.)

Lavender essential oil has long been known for its calming and relaxing benefits. But in some exceptional cases, lavender oil actually proved to be energizing.

In a 2004 study (1) in the Journal of Palliative Medicine, terminally ill cancer patients received a combination of aromatherapy, a lavender essential oil footsoak, and a reflexology treatment with jojoba oil containing lavender. Evaluation of the Cancer Fatigue Scale (CFS) showed fatigue was alleviated.

Knowing that lavender is calming and sedating to most people while energizing to terminally ill cancer patients invokes the term “adaptogen.” This means that lavender seems to have an inherent sense of what is needed and then provides it.

An April 2012 study (2) by researchers in Thailand analyzed the effects of lavender oil on the central nervous system, the autonomic nervous system, and mood responses in humans after inhalation. Twenty healthy volunteers participated in the study with sweet almond oil as the control. Autonomic nervous system functions (those that operate involuntarily or below the level of consciousness) such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and skin temperature were assessed.

Additionally, study subjects were questioned on their mood responses: feeling pleasant or unpleasant, uncomfortable, their feelings of sensuality, and relaxation in order to assess behavioral arousal. Also, an electroencephalogram (EEG) was recorded from 31 electrodes on the scalp. The data was analyzed comparing the effects of lavender oil on physiological and mood states with sweet almond oil.

In what could not have been a surprise to anyone, the results showed that lavender oil caused significant decreases in blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature, which indicated a decrease of autonomic arousal. With regard to mood states, the lavender oil group categorized themselves as more active, fresher, and relaxed than subjects inhaling the control oil. Compared to the control oil, lavender essential oil increased the power of theta and alpha brain activities.

In another 2012 study, recognizing the number of studies of lavender’s calming, antiseptic, and sleep-assisting benefits, Taiwanese scientists from Yuanpei University (3) decided to analyze lavender’s response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in human monocyte THP-1 cells.

Using just a 0.1 percent solution of lavender essential oil (LEO), the researchers discovered that lavender oil significantly increased cell viability and inhibited the IL-1ß and superoxide anion generation of LPS-stimulated THP-1 cells. The highly technical study abstract also noted that lavender essential oil down-regulated both LPS-induced protein levels of phospho-NF-kB and membrane toll-like receptor (4).

For the nonscientists among us, superoxide, says Wikipedia, “is biologically quite toxic and is deployed by the immune system to kill invading microorganisms.”4 Nuclear factor kappa beta (NF-kB) “controls many genes involved in inflammation” so “it is not surprising that NF-kN is found to be chronically active in many inflammatory diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, sepsis, gastritis, asthma, atherosclerosis, and others.” (5)

When inflammatory conditions in the body take control, lavender’s anti-inflammatory mechanisms may provide help.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT CARE PROGRAMS

This program may change your life if you are willing to try something new and be open. I love how gentle and graceful my healing was and how wonderful to have hope again.
~ Lisa Marie Belter, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

This class was very enlightening. I would recommend it to everyone. It is nice to know that there is an alternative to medicine.
~ Tiffany Slusher, Minford, Ohio

As a Medical Doctor, I would suggest very highly that all medical practitioners, medical students, and residents should be exposed to programs like this.
~ Andrew Sears, M.D., Saginaw, Michigan

I can say from experience that the complete version of Raindrop, as taught in CARE Seminars, is the very best. CARE training allows a person to completely grasp the meaning of every technique and lesson taught so a person can carry out, with true value and with deep spirituality, their own facilitations using CARE methods. I am confident that I have learned the most effective way to assist others on their journey to optimum health."
~ Colleen Coleman, Sherwood, Oregon

Since I can remember I could not seem to hear what others could hear. As a result I was labeled as a slow learner. At the CARE Seminar, the Instructor asked if he could demonstrate the Vitaflex Ear Technique on me using helichrysum oil. So I took out my hearing aid and he gave his demonstration to the class. That night when I turned on my computer I had to decrease the volume by three-quarters of the setting I normally use as it was too loud for me. The next day I did not wear my hearing aid to class and for the first time I did not strain to hear.
~ Vickie Hornbuckle, Piedmont, Kansas
This seminar was beyond my highest expectations! It opened up incredible insights and understandings! In addition we learned one Vitaflex technique that 'cured' my scoliosis with one application.
~ Patricia B. Hayes, Bath, Michigan

My experience in this class was very precious and a blessing! The instructor poured out her love all day long amongst us. She touched my heart. I would love to have more of my dear friends in Europe receive this wonderful experience.
~ Gabriele Hauser, M.D., Vienna, Austria

This program has changed my life. I feel as if I have been waiting all of my life for this door to open so I could walk through into my destiny. Usually I would go to a seminar and in a few days, I would go back to my old habit patterns, but not this time. The next day after the emotional release class I woke up totally free from a fear I had for years. God is such a wonderful Father to prepare these healings for us in such a simple way as offered through CARE's ministry. I will forever be thankful. And one more thing. My block towards chemistry is gone. Really gone!I did not look forwardto the class. I actually dreaded it. Now, I am looking forwardto taking it again and becoming a teacher! Miracles happen all the time! Shalom.
~ Maria DeShields, St. Louis, Missouri

A fabulous reintroduction to the oils, the chemistry, and life in general. The instructor was amazing.
~ Jyll Johnstone, DiReno, Italy

The CARE Intensive exceeded my high expectations. All of the instructors were great. Their tremendous caring and willingness to give of self was always evident. This program provides an opportunity to build on previous knowledge or start new if unfamiliar with essential oils. It also enables you to participate in personal growth and meet wonderful people.
~ Jeannette Vaupel, RN, Genoa, Illinois

Thank you so much for bringing the raindrop training to Australia. I absolutely loved the course. It was a turning point for me. I hope that you can come back to Australia ASAP.
~ Sonya Vassallo, Beechworth, Victoria, Australia

I am so grateful for CARE. This workshop really truly builds confidence and teaches the techniques in a way that could be learned by anyone. Thank you! It has been so fulfilling!
~ Robyn Karima Grant, Nakuop, British Columbia, Canada

This seminar will change your life! I have no suggestions for this seminar. It was fantastic.
~ Diane Koepp, Belle Plaine, Minnesota

This is a program for everyone. It will change their lives for a much better future. Makes you a new person who belongs to God. Thank you.
~ Dermot Bailey, Niestetal, Germany

It was great! I loved it! Until I took this seminar I didn't have a clue that oils could do so much! Thank you!
~ Susan J. Knowles, Caldwell, West Virginia

We traveled a long way for the CARE Seminar (from England to California). The whole workshop was interesting, enlightening, excellent, and very enjoyable. It was well worth every mile traveled!
~ Susan Neary, Clitheroe, Lancashire, England

As a massage therapist I was able to take the work that I do to the next level! The understanding of the chemistry of essential is helping me explain the scientific way they work. Thank you. It was a pleasure being in this class.
~ Melissa Bills, LMT, Caro, Michigan

This training is an absolute must for all those involved in oils. Truly awe inspiring!! We received knowledge and healing from above.
~ James Claps, Grove Village, Illinois

This workshop has been the most rewarding learning experience since my introduction to essential oils. The wealth of material and wonderful personal experiences and knowledge shared was beyond my expectations.
~ Aziyza Shabazz, St. Croix, Virgin Islands

Three days after receiving raindrop in the CARE class I received a healing from a painful shoulder and left arm. I am very excited what the oils do for people.
~ Meg Hueslcamp, Brenham, Texas

Millions of thanks to you. I am already lining up students to come to your next classes. Everything was taught in such a simple manner that even a child could follow and do raindrop technique. May God bless you richly in your work.
~ Kiew Lo, Carlingford Court, New South Wales, Australia

Words are not adequate to express how great this class is. Everyone was inspired and blessed by every section of the class. We didn't want it to end.
~ Connie Allen, Lewiston, Idaho

The CARE Intensive was so great! It was amazing. During the three days we all bonded together and it seemed like we were all a big family. I found the chemistry class to be very interesting, which shocked me as I never really enjoyed science before. You explained everything so well that now I will feel more confident in using my oils and sharing them. Thank you for the experience and the training.
~ Jamie Brown, Lakewood, California

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for such a wonderful program. Not only have I learned a great deal of new skills, I have grown as a spiritual being. All this in just three days! Thank you.
~ Kim McMahon, Bronte Beach, New South Wales, Australia

I have taken the CARE Classes twice now and it continues to get better. The magnitude of information is incredible. I feel like I could repeat and repeat.
~ Carol Garvey, Oakville, Ontario, Canada

I wouldn't change anything about the CARE class. It is perfect. This little group is really special. We were supported by so many angels and the presence of the highest spirit. I love this training!
~ Vijay Churfuerst-Hanzal, Leobendorf, Austria

Where and How to Obtain Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

If you are a Young Living Essential Oils Distributor or a Young Living Customer, you have chosen to avail yourself of the world’s finest oils of Biblical grade quality. If You are not a YL Member and have a friend or relative who is, you should approach them and ask how you can become affiliated with Young Living and purchase these oils.

You may also contact any Certified CARE Instructor (CCI) who would be happy to enroll you in Young Living. The addresses, phone numbers, and email information for all CARE instructors are given on the CARE website, http://www.RaindropTraining.com. Perhaps there is a CCI living near to you who would serve as your sponsor and assist you in learning about how to use the oils.

If you do not know of anyone in your community or family that sells these oils, you may also choose to enroll with Dr. David and Lee Stewart as your sponsor at http://bibleoils.YoungLivingWorld.com or by contacting Young Living at (800) 371-3515 and enroll over the phone asking that David and Lee Stewart, YLEO Member #261333, be your sponsors. You may also call David or Lee directly at (573) 238-4273.

You cannot practice therapeutic aromatherapy with healing results unless you use properly produced and packaged oils. Most oils easily available from retail outlets are food or perfume grade oils and do not have the healing properties that Young Living oils possess.
